Solution
The “spam” (or “junk”) folder is named "Spam" and is located at the top level of your mailbox. Access to this folder requires that you either log in via webmail or access the mailbox via the IMAP protocol. If you retrieve your mailbox via POP3, the contents of the spam folder will not be picked up and remain on the server until they are explicitly deleted there (for example, via login to webmail).
