Webhosting service Bitpalace shows CPU and process load of its shared hosting servers for small web space accounts in real time, thereby demonstrating publicly that it offers sufficient reserve capacity even for small web space accounts.

When searching for a web hosting service, clients often suspect that cheap service providers burden their servers with unreasonably large numbers of clients. In "shared hosting" operation (many clients sharing one server) each client gets less computing power. As a result clients fear that their domains get slow.

No one likes slow domains. That is why Bitpalace disproves such suspicions against its own server offering. The internet company, which has been offering cheap web space since 2010, shows current CPU and process loads of its servers hosting small accounts on a dedicated website. Similar to a level indicator on a hi-fi system, LED-like bars show actual activity on the host servers and whether all services (mail, database, FTP, etc.) are online. It is easy to recognize that all host servers have an abundance of reserve capacity, meaning available computing power and processes. This enables servers to work quickly and deliver content to web browsers swiftly, even at peak loads. The display automatically updates every 30 seconds. Even before committing to a contract, prospective buyers can get a live impression of whether a Bitpalace server offers enough capacity for their domain.

Bitpalace accepts that the display will also show potentially unattractive load situations, arguing that this demonstrates that the data is accurate and reflecting the actual server load. Bitpalace's general manager, Peter Debik (43), says that, "Bitpalace doesn't want to target its clients with vacuous advertising clichés. Instead we want to show genuine, tangible and clearly recognizable capacity indicators. Our services are as reliable as our prices. Moreover, a negative capacity indicator acts as an incentive for us to further improve server monitoring and act even more quickly in peak-load situations. While many clients have to deal with pig in a poke scenarios elsewhere, Bitpalace shows them what they are going to get for their money, even before they buy."

For many years, Bitpalace has been investing a lot of time and effort into offering consistent high-quality service, even for small web space accounts. In addition, security features are added on a regular basis, while intelligent monitoring scripts are employed to recognize potential issues ahead of time and remove them, sometimes even automatically.
